The Data Science team at Janssen R&D develops innovative solutions using a variety of data sources (-omics, digital health, imaging, real-world data, etc.) across multiple disease areas. We are looking for an outstanding Director / Senior Director to lead a team focusing on AI technologies for biology and support activities spanning from drug discovery to development, patient stratification, multi-modal endpoints, etc. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of AI and computational biology scientists to support drug discovery and development through data-driven approaches. Set the strategy and objectives of the team, implement the necessary processes for successful and timely execution. Develop and implement an AI/ML strategy for biology that distinguishes the Data Science team at Janssen R&D through impactful results at scale, including intellectual property and highly visible publications Lead the development of state-of-the-art AI/ML methodologies for biology, to support drug discovery and development activities at scale (e.g., target/disease identification and quantification, mechanistic insights, patient characterization and stratification, etc.) Drive large strategic and complex projects to achieve the intended impact in a timely manner Build and cultivate the right partnerships and alliances with internal and external partners in tandem with J&J Business Development, Innovation Centers, etc. Be technical leader among the Data Science team, instituting best practices while crafting a data-driven culture, developing, and mentoring members of the team. Implement a culture of excellence and high standards, continuous learning and growth, collaboration, and respect Qualifications Required A PhD degree in AI/ML, computational biology, or related, with 6
years of hands-on experience in the field after the PhD Strong experience in AI/ML, computational biology, bioinformatics or related, with proven track records (e.g. publications in top-tier journals and conferences, patents, awards, etc.) Expertise in one or more therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, neuroscience or cardiovascular Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing complex stakeholders and projects in a fast-paced environment Proven leadership in complicated context, able to influence and engage the strategic and technical partners in a matrix organization Expert proficiency in Python, R, or related software environments Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills Passionate about leveraging data to drive scientific innovation and continuously learn new AI techniques in the domain Can-do attitude and ability to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team Preferred Experience with high-throughput data generation pipeline, from sequencing platform to data analysis environment Additional expertise in computational chemistry is a plus Experience with working in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company Experience working closely with healthcare professionals Ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience.
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Software Development, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
