This position consists of two primary
Responsibilities: 1) lead and coordinate the development of high-quality proactive and reactive content, including slide sets, for use by Infectious Diseases Medical Affairs staff 70% and 2) assist the Associate Director in the development of publications and execution of publication plans for the Medical Affairs Infectious Diseases franchise 20% . This individual will also provide assistance with other department projects and special assignments 10% .
The following are Key Job Activities:
Responsibilities related to the development of high-quality slides for use by Medical Affairs Field teams: 1) lead and coordinate development of slide sets from posters and oral presentations made at scientific meetings and peer-reviewed papers; 2) work with cross-functional development team to ensure consistency in the content, format, and style of slide decks; 3) ensure consistent application of development and internal review and approval process; 4) editing of slide decks submitted by Medical Affairs Field team for approval; 5) coordination of slide review through internal Medical Affairs approval team, including identification and resolution of conflicting comments or errors in interpretation of data; 6) electronic document management within SharePoint environment; and 7) maintaining and revising PowerPoint style guide for training purposes.
Additional content development
Responsibilities: Develop additional materials for the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team to use with opinion leaders (OLs) and develop materials for the community liaison team to use with Allied Healthcare Providers and/or patients. Collaborate with Healthcare Compliance, Legal and Regulatory partners as it pertains to the development and approval of materials through the appropriate channels.
Publication responsibilities will include: assist the Associate Director in 1) liaising with physicians who treat patients with HCV and HIV, and Medical Affairs staff in the development of posters and oral presentations for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed papers for publication; 2) writing scientific abstracts and posters, as necessary; 3) critically reviewing draft publications from an editorial and clinical perspective, including identification and resolution of clinical and statistical issues related to data interpretation; 4) working with cross-functional team to consolidate and reconcile comments from internal/external reviews of draft publications; 5) liaising with external publication agency in the management and execution of publication plans; 6) ensuring consistent implementation of publication development process in accordance with company policies and processes and 7) electronic document management within SharePoint environment.
This individual must perform job functions within applicable Janssen Scientific Affairs Standard Operating Procedures, Healthcare Compliance guidelines, FDA regulations, ICMJE publication requirements, and OIG guidelines. Duties will involve written and verbal communications with various internal and external parties and liaising with other departments such as Healthcare Compliance, Law, and Sales and Marketing, in addition to other Johnson & Johnson companies.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required, and Advanced Degree is preferred (for example PhD, PharmD, MPH, etc).
A minimum of 2 or more years of medical/scientific writing, data analysis or clinical experience (within an industry, governmental agency or academic setting) required.
Experience working in infectious disease-related research or field preferred.
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate scientific/medical information is required. Ability to critically analyze and interpret medical literature is required.
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Attention to detail is required.
Ability to work as an independent contributor and work in a team setting is required.
Ability to manage information technology is required; technical aptitude in using multiple applications such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, Adobe and Microsoft Word.
Travel 10% domestic.
